What are the fees for surgery?

Most health funds participate in a gap system so in the majority of cases we will only charge you the gap for surgery, with the remainder of the fee being recovered from your health fund. Some health funds (eg NIB) do not offer a gap system to their patients, and as a result the out of pocket expenses for patients insured with these funds will be higher. We will provide a written quote prior to proceeding with your surgery, detailing what the full cost is, and what your out of pocket or "gap" cost is. Please note that fees for the anaesthetist, pathologist, other ancillary services and private hospital excesses and other costs (eg for prosthetic devices) are billed separately by the individual providers, not by our office. We can provide quotes for uninsured patients if they wish to proceed through the private system to expedite their surgery. The AMA has published a "Private Health Insurance report Card" which explains how private health insurance works - click here to view this document.

Do I need to pay for the visit at the time?

Yes payment is required on the day of consultation. A 10% administration fee (+ GST) will be added to your account for any bills not paid on the day.

Is there a cancellation policy?

Yes. Cancellation fees will apply if you do not notify us at least 24 hours before you scheduled appointment time.

Do you treat workcover and TAC Patients?

No. We can see patients that require treatment or an opinion but your invoice must be paid on the day. Fees for any surgery that is required would be billed directly to you, and once paid may be taken back to TAC/WorkCover to claim a rebate if applicable.

How do I make an appointment?

Please contact our office via telephone on 03 98174366

Do I need a referral?

To receive a rebate from Medicare, a valid referral is required. Referrals from other specialists are only valid for 3 months, and those from GP's are generally valid for 12 months. New problems require a new referral. Overseas patients or those not eligible for Medicare do not require a referral.

Do I need to bring anything in particular?

It is very important you bring your referral and any other relevant documents with you to the appointment. This includes any radiology or pathology results. Please also bring hard (or digital eg on CD) copies of your radiology scans unless digital access has already be provided to us (call our office to inquire about this if you are not sure). Your GP should have copies of all relevant test results if you do not already have them.

Is parking available?

Yes. Off-street parking is available at all our sites, except Carlton where ample street parking is available
