Frequently Asked Questions
What are the consultation fees?
Please contact our office to enquire about our fees. A list of fees with be emailed to you once an appointment has been confirmed.
What are the fees for surgery?
Due to the multitude of policies available to consumers and the variable levels of cover, it is difficult to predict what your health fund will cover for any given procedure. We will provide a written quote of our fees prior to proceeding with your surgery, detailing what the full cost is. Please note that fees for the anaesthetist, pathologist, other ancillary services and private hospital excesses and other costs (eg for prosthetic devices) are billed separately by the individual providers, not by our office. We can provide quotes for uninsured patients if you wish to proceed through the private system to expedite your surgery.
Do I need to pay for the visit at the time?
Yes payment is required on the day of consultation. A 20% administration fee (+ GST) will be added to your account for any bills not paid on the day.
Is there a cancellation policy?
Yes. Cancellation fees will apply if you do not notify us at least 24 hours before you scheduled appointment time.
Do you treat WorkSafe and TAC patients?
We can see patients that require treatment or an opinion but you will need to pay your invoice on the day. Fees for any surgery that may be required would be billed directly to you, and once paid may be taken back to TAC/WorkSafe to claim a rebate if applicable.
How do I make an appointment?
We welcome referrals from General Practitioners and other Specialists. Unreferred consultations and international patients (who do not have a valid Medicare Card) will not attract a Medicare rebate. Please ensure your referral is sent to us either by email clinic@easternent.com.au or by Fax 03 9817 4599. Once your referral has been assessed our reception team will contact you to make an appointment.
What if I have had Covid 19?
Please do not attend the rooms if you have Covid 19, are unwell, have a cough, fever or cold symptoms. We offer telehealth consultations if you cannot defer your appointment. If you are booking surgery and have had Covid 19 within the last 7 weeks, please inform us – even if you are fully recovered.
Do I need a referral?
To receive a rebate from Medicare, a valid referral is required. Referrals from other specialists are only valid for 3 months, and those from GP’s are generally valid for 12 months. New problems require a new referral. Overseas patients or those not eligible for Medicare do not require a referral.
Do I need to bring anything in particular?
It is very important you bring your referral and any other relevant documents with you to the appointment. This includes any radiology or pathology results. Please also bring hard copies of your radiology scans (or the digital copy/CD) unless digital access has already be provided to us (call our office to inquire about this if you are not sure). Your GP should have copies of all relevant test results if you do not already have them.
Is parking available?
Yes. Off-street parking is available at all our sites, except North Fitzroy where street parking is available in Newry Street or Brunswick Street (Please take note of parking signs)
