What are the fees for surgery?
Due to the multitude of policies available to consumers and the variable levels of cover, it is difficult to predict what your health fund will cover for any given procedure. We will provide a written quote of our fees prior to proceeding with your surgery, detailing what the full cost is, and what your expected out of pocket or “gap” cost is, however you should always confirm this with your specific insurer. Please note that fees for the anaesthetist, pathologist, other ancillary services and private hospital excesses and other costs (eg for prosthetic devices) are billed separately by the individual providers, not by our office. We can provide quotes for uninsured patients if you wish to proceed through the private system to expedite your surgery. The AMA has published a “Private Health Insurance report Card” which explains how private health insurance works – click here to view this document.
Do I need to pay for the visit at the time?
Yes payment is required on the day of consultation. A 20% administration fee (+ GST) will be added to your account for any bills not paid on the day.
Is there a cancellation policy?
Yes. Cancellation fees will apply if you do not notify us at least 24 hours before you scheduled appointment time.
Do you treat WorkSafe and TAC patients?
We can see patients that require treatment or an opinion but you will need to pay your invoice on the day. Fees for any surgery that may be required would be billed directly to you, and once paid may be taken back to TAC/WorkSafe to claim a rebate if applicable.
How do I make an appointment?
Do I need a referral?
To receive a rebate from Medicare, a valid referral is required. Referrals from other specialists are only valid for 3 months, and those from GP’s are generally valid for 12 months. New problems require a new referral. Overseas patients or those not eligible for Medicare do not require a referral.
Do I need to bring anything in particular?
It is very important you bring your referral and any other relevant documents with you to the appointment. This includes any radiology or pathology results. Please also bring hard copies of your radiology scans (or the digital copy/CD) unless digital access has already be provided to us (call our office to inquire about this if you are not sure). Your GP should have copies of all relevant test results if you do not already have them.
Is parking available?
Yes. Off-street parking is available at all our sites, except Carlton North where ample street parking is available
